Alongside Legal Definition

„Free Beside Ship“ or FAS is a term that is generally used in international sales contracts. Under the FAS, the seller must deliver the goods next to the ship for transport to the port designated for shipment. The Seller`s obligation ends when the goods are delivered with the ship and the Buyer bears all costs and risks of loss of damage to the goods, including loading and all subsequent costs. Incoterms 2000 require the seller to release the goods for export. FAS is mainly used in maritime transport. „They have great service and I`ll be sure to spread the word.“ During the expedition, this is the side of the ship on which the inventory is placed. Items are placed within reach of the crane or on the dock.
