The Pittsburgh Pro Bono Partnership is a collaboration between legal departments, law firms, the Allegheny County Bar Foundation and the Neighborhood Legal Services Association. Our goal is to increase pro bono legal services for lawyers and paralegals in the broader Pittsburgh community. In particular, we encourage new and more creative efforts to provide legal services to individuals with limited resources and organizations, including charities working on their behalf. This program provides low-income parties with legal representation in simple divorce cases (one count with no property or support issues, no alimony, custody or PFA). Support and child care workshops are offered regularly. People must have been separated from their spouse for a year or more or be victims of domestic violence with an ATP order in effect against their spouse. You also need to know the spouse`s address and social security number. know the date and quarter of the wedding; know the exact date of separation; have no matrimonial property such as a house, annuity or other personal property with the spouse; be prepared to waive a maintenance claim against the spouse; not be the subject of any other divorce proceeding commenced in that or any other jurisdiction; and be reasonably certain that the spouse will accept the petition for divorce and is willing to accept service of the divorce complaint. The Bar Association helps low-income residents of Allegheny County get simple, flawless divorces at little or no cost. The Immigration Services and Refugee Resettlement Program provides legal advice and representation to immigrants and refugees.
The program is run by the Jewish Family and Children`s Service of Pittsburgh and provides free legal advice to immigrants and refugees who need help with naturalization, resettlement or other immigrant-related legal matters. Neighborhood Legal Services provides legal assistance to low-income individuals.
