Duncan is a partner at Treehouse Innovation. He has designed and led engagements with organizations such as DLA Piper, American Express, Sony Playstation, Capgemini and Coca Cola. The main thing I lacked in my formal education was the ability to see the value of mistakes. I went through the education system thinking that success didn`t make a single mistake, and it also bled into my professional life. One of the things that appealed to me in the design industry is that mistakes and failures are considered fundamental elements of risk management and success, and what you really need is the right framework to make sure you make mistakes in the fastest and most cost-effective way (i.e. there is a time and place for mistakes, and there are certainly times, in which mistakes should be avoided!). The moment he really dug in (and it took a long time – and only after talking to a number of design scientists, reading a lot of design books, and learning through practice), everything became easier. Adam previously worked at Ernst & Young Consulting and led numerous innovation projects and design events for all types of organizations. Recent customers include Amazon, NBCUniversal, eBay, Sony PlayStation, DuPont, Microsoft and many more.

Angela is an experienced legal designer with a broad base of experience in design thinking and innovation. As a lawyer by training, Angela is passionate about improving the accessibility of the law. Angela is also a regular lecturer on legal design as part of oxford`s AI4Law programme. As an experienced designer at TreeHouse Innovation, she teaches and leads Design Thinking workshops to help our clients solve problems and develop their own internal innovation cultures. You will also find that it supports project teams through ethnographic research, framework and tool development, and project management. He is a frequent lecturer in Design Thinking at the University of Cambridge`s Executive Education and Leadership Development programs. In addition, he has developed and led apprenticeship and leadership programs with leading business schools such as Imperial College London, Judge Business School, Cambridge, Rice University, Georgia Tech and others. Now, when I look at the types of subjects I enjoyed in school, I see that I`ve always enjoyed doing a lot of different things – I`ve loved the creativity and freedom that art and design allow, but I`ve also enjoyed the logical nature of mathematics. I have always chosen human-centered history classes, and my favorite part of English literature has been understanding the cultural context of the author and how the context of a reader affects their interpretation of the text. My degree showed me how a multidisciplinary mindset gives you a toolbox with many different ways to understand your context, and there`s no one „right“ way to perceive or solve a problem. For example, we use my computer science, data analytics, and econometrics skills, as well as my formal knowledge of logic and behavioral economics in projects – all of which I first learned in college and never thought I`d use as part of a „design“ consulting.

With that in mind, I think my formal education has shown me the value of choosing from many different disciplines, never being afraid to do something different, and constantly learning from other industries.
